2019-2020 Vandegrift Golf Try-Outs

Anyone wishing to join the golf program will need to participate in the try-out or turn in a resume of tournament scores to Coach Wernecke via email by July 20th, 2019 (tournament, course, ydg, score).  The try-out is set to happen on July 30th at River Place CC 9:00-10:30.  Kids will be asked to show a variety of skills (putting, range work & playing 9 holes if needed).  Any potential player that makes the team via resume will not need to participate in the July 30th try-out.

Tournament scores are the best way for someone make the team.  I strongly encourage anyone wanting to make the team to play tournaments and have scores to turn in.   Tournament scores from any of the following organizations will be acceptable:

  • US Kids
  • TJGT
  • Legends Tour
  • AJGA

Please include the date of the tournament, your score and the course the tournament was played on.  Coach Wernecke will look over the resume and compare the scores shot to the standards listed below.  Scores will be evaluated if there are multiple tournament scores.  Players will need to have at least 4-5 tournament scores turned in to better evaluate the current skill level of each athlete.  The scoring average of the tournament scores needs to meet the standards below.  Just shooting the needed score 1 time won’t be enough.  The standards for making the team are as follows (the standards are for incoming players):
